View From El TorcalWhat is there to do nearby?

Torcal Vista is an excellent base for relaxing, walking, cycling, bird watching, horse riding and exploring Andalucia. From the cottages you can walk down to the river below, listen to the frog chorus in the spring and watch turtles and a variety of birds including egrets, hoopoes, vultures and the occasional eagle. Good climbing can be found nearby and bikes are available for hire from the finca. Painting lessons can also be arranged.

The Natural Park of El Torcal, with its unusual and dramatic limestone rock formations and spectacular views, is only a fifteen minute drive from the house. There are clearly marked walks here. You can drive on to the attractive town of Antequera with its historic churches and buildings, its castle and ancient dolmens. Antequera has many traditional shops and restaurants and a bull ring. In common with most of Spain, Antequera can always find an excuse to hold another fiesta.

Malaga is thirty minutes from Torcal Vista. This popular and lively city has many excellent restaurants and tapas bars both in the centre and by the beach. It boasts two castles and several museums, in particular the new Museo Picasso in the Buenavista Palace. Granada is only an hour away and the world famous Alhambra Palace and gardens should not be missed. Seville, Cordoba and Ronda are all within reach too.

The El Chorro Gorge and lakes and the Fuente de Piedra with its famous flamingoes are nearby. Also within easy reach of the cottages are the beaches of the Costa Del Sol. They are great for swimming, sunbathing beside the sea and enjoying a fine meal from one of the seafront restaurants. The fish is particularly good.

Andalucia has many fine golf courses, the nearst being at Antequera, details can be found on www.sunshine-golf.co.uk.
